Endurance 101: a gentle guide to the sport of long-distance riding

By December 6, 2012No Comments
Hi everyone. I am really excited to tell you about my latest endeavor – as a publisher! Endurance 101 is a new book specifically written for those embarking on the sport of endurance riding for the first time. Aarene Storms, the author, is an experienced Pacific Northwest rider and fellow horse blogger. We had a “real” publisher interested but it was going too slowly (bloggers are NOT that patient) and so we took matters into our own hands.

Because I was the photographer (and illustrator) for the book, there are quite a few Tekes in it, especially Danny (Magdan) and Galen of Cascade Gold, but others too, including Patrikhan, and partbreds Savannah and Alpowa.

We are offering a special discount through November 20th on the digital edition ($2.00 off the $9.99 list) if you sign up via the release list button on the web site.

It is also available on amazon.com in the Kindle version, but the ePub version is nicer (little finicky things like the captions staying with the photo) and we don’t give most of the proceeds away to Amazon. If you don’t have a reader or a tablet, you can read it on a computer with Adobe Digital Editions or any other desktop e-reader.

This is the book that experienced endurance riders want their friends who think they are crazy to read. It breaks all the complicated parts of preparing for a ride down into manageable portions, and points people at more in-depth information if they are research-inclined.

Sales of the e-book are helping to underwrite the print edition. There is a complete index and lots of links in the ebook, so it is a great reference, but I want to have that moment when I see a well-read copy of Endurance 101 lying in the front of someone’s pickup at a ride!

So feel free to share the link to the deal with anyone you think might be interested, and if you do buy the book, please let me know how many Tekes you spot! I havent’ had time to count them.
