Naked Foal Syndrome Results

Naked Foal results are now printed on registration certificates.

The following symbols are these:
NFS- Naked Foal Syndrome
N – Negative
NFS – Naked Foal Syndrome carrier
NT – Not Tested
NA – Not Applicable

For Pure bred horses:
NFS: N/N , means Sire tested Negative, Dam tested Negative
NFS: N/NFS , means Sire is non carrier, Dam is a carrier
NFS: NT/N , means Sire is Not Tested, Dam tested Negative

For Partbred horses:
Only the pure bred parent needs to be tested.
The “other breed” parent will get an NA

How to avoid NFS in your herd

With the help from VNIIK, it seems most horses with the sire Angar 685 in their pedigree seem to have Naked foal Syndrome. A horse with one copy of NFS has 50% chance to pass it on.
