There now is an Akhal-Teke mare living in Hawaii!!!
Here is her new owner’s story:
I bought a mare called Malika. She was originally from Cascade Gold Akhal-Teke’s. She is 93% Akhal-Teke from Astrachan and Mirija. I guess her mom had 1/8 other breed in her. She then went to Idaho and made it out to the Big Island in Hawaii where I live. Her owner moved back to Idaho and didn’t take her. I actually found her on craigslist! We made a connection the 2nd time I went to see her and we are really bonding. She is a real sweetheart, loves people and attention. She is a bay and has that beautiful metallic sheen and smooth gaits. This is my 1st experience with this breed. I had never actually seen one in person before! I am learning tons. She is so different from my little rodeo cutter horse!

I’m so glad to see that Malika is doing well! All her siblings are wonderful, sweet, smooth horses. The 1/8 other breed is hanoverian though her dam, Mirija. You’ll have many happy years I’m sure!
Malika looks wonderful. I have one of her full brothers, Andymn (Andy), who is 15, and I remember Malika from her filly-hood! Lovely horses, I’m sure you will enjoy her!
WOW! I am so glad to see that Malika is well, and know someone cares about her. She had a foal back in Idaho before moving to Hawaii, but I don’t know what happened to that baby. Malika looks terrific, and I wish both of you luck.
