Dressage at Devon

The ATAA did a new promotion this year; we sponsored an Akhal-Teke breed class at Dressage at Devon. For those that aren’t familiar with Dressage at Devon, here is the intro from their website:
Dressage at Devon – CDI/W/Y/J has been the premier North American equestrian event since 1975.  It combines world class dressage competition and the world’s largest open breed show with the international Fall Festival shops and special activities for the entire family.
The historic and charming Devon Horse Show Grounds, located on US Route 30 just west of I-476 in Devon, PA, provide the ideal venue for this exciting event.  The grounds include covered grandstand seating at the main Dixon Oval, a second performance arena, warm-up areas, extensive stabling and the tree-shaded lanes of the Festival Area.
The ATAA sponsored the first (Yes!  The First!) Akhal-Teke breed class at a major North American show.  Per the show’s guidelines, all competing horses must be registered with the sponsoring body and the owners must be members.  The AT class was held on Thursday, September 29th at 7:45 am under judge Debbie Riehl-Rodriguez and we had 6 entrants, with a mix of stallions and mares and also a mix of ages.

The entrants were:
7:45 AM Kurizma, Sabine Desper, Open 236
7:49 AM Gerald, Katrina Ardiel, Adult Amateur 128
7:53 AM Arslan Jorap, Trisha Urban 250
7:57 AM Danearius, Natalia Heinke JR/YR 181
8:01 AM Anikit, Sabine Desper, Open 222
8:05 AM Hendrick, Katrina Ardiel, Adult Amateur

All horses were judged on movement at the walk and trot and conformation.  The results were as follows along with the scores the horses received.  Do note that Arslan Jorap was the youngest horse at only 1 year old.
